Cohorta

Payments & billing

All Cohorta subscriptions are taken on the Cohorta website, and payment is processed securely by Stripe. Public launch is 2 October 2026.

Membership is £4.99 a month after your free period. There is one price and one membership: you buy Cohorta rather than a group, and you are never charged twice. Your membership renews automatically each month until you cancel.

You are not charged when you sign up: £0 today. You give Stripe a payment method at sign-up, but no money is taken then.

If you were a member before subscriptions started, you get 14 days free from the day you subscribe, with your first payment on day 15. New joiners get 30 days free from sign-up, with their first payment on day 31. We never charge sooner than 14 days after you subscribe. Your first-charge date is shown when you subscribe.

We remind you 3 days before your first payment, by email, and in the app and by push where you have them turned on. If you cancel before your free period ends you are never charged.

The free period applies once per person; if you have had one before and come back, you still will not be charged for at least 14 days.

If you were a member before subscriptions started, you need a subscription from 23 October 2026; check the date in the email we sent you. If you do not subscribe, you cannot use Cohorta until you do. Your account and everything in it stay as they are; nothing is deleted. The first payments are from 6 November 2026, for members who subscribe on 23 October.

Even if you start in the app, subscribing opens the website checkout; there's no App Store or Google Play billing, and your receipt comes from Cohorta. Because we take payments directly, we can see and sort any billing question. Email support@cohorta.me.

A payment failed

If a payment fails (card expired, insufficient funds, a bank decline), your card needs updating: open your account on the Cohorta website (in the app, go to Profile → Account → Subscriptions) and update it. We retry automatically for a period set out in our Terms of Service, and while your subscription is unpaid we pause your access; you keep the parts you need to sort it out: your account, your billing details and support. There is nothing broken on your account; updating the card resolves the issue.

I've been charged twice

This is almost always a pending authorisation: your bank shows a temporary hold alongside the real charge, and the hold drops off in a few days. If you genuinely see two completed charges, email support@cohorta.me with both and we'll refund the duplicate.

I cancelled but was still charged

Cancelling stops the next renewal; a charge that had already gone through when you cancelled isn't refunded automatically. If you cancelled before the renewal date and were still charged, email support@cohorta.me with your receipt and we'll put it right.

How do I get a refund?

We handle all refunds directly. Email support@cohorta.me with your receipt and we'll look at it under our Refund & Cancellation Policy. There's no Apple or Google refund process to go through.

Your statutory cooling-off right. Cohorta is a service, and as a UK consumer buying a service at a distance you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day you subscribe (for new joiners, the day you sign up), without giving a reason. You cannot give that right up and we will never ask you to. Because existing members get 14 days free from subscribing and new joiners get 30 days free from sign-up, and we take no payment for at least 14 days, cancelling inside the cooling-off period costs you nothing; there is no charge to refund, and nothing is ever deducted for the days you used.

If you cancel part-way through a month you keep access to the end of the month you have paid for.

Billing mistakes (a duplicate charge, or a charge after you cancelled in time) are always refunded in full.

The full detail is in the Refund & Cancellation Policy, which together with the Terms of Service is the authoritative version.

Cancelling

You subscribe on the website, so you manage and cancel there: open your account (there's a link in the app) and choose Cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
